Tunnelling for Mumbai coastal road project to begin in August
According reports, there would be two tunnels to be constructed in South Mumbai as part of the Rs 130 billion coastal road project, for which, digging work is expected to start in this August and will be completed in a year. Piling and reclamation work for the project is underway currently.

The project will be using the largest tunnel boring machine (TBM) ever used in India, which will be imported from China in April. This can complete the work in a more efficient manner and will ensure the least amount of disruption. According to officials, setting up of the equipment will take a month or two. The machine measures 11.5 m in diameter and will be used to dig two tunnels of 12.2 m diameter each. The digging would start at Priyadarshini Park.
