Topping in Net Aggregate
Assisting St Basil?s Granites in its quarry operations are three EC210 and one EC290 excavators.
Till the other day, they used to swear by natural river sand. Today, architects, civil engineers, builders and contractors turn to manufactured sand when they take up construction activity. They find it a better alternative for various reasons. ?The G Sand we produce is just as good as river sand, if not better, and it is far more durable, eco-friendly and economical,? says KP Ouseph, Managing Partner, St Basil?s Granites.?

An established manufacturer and supplier of construction aggregates, St Basil?s Granites is based out of Poovanchira in Thrissur District of Kerala. The company employs world-class machinery along with best manufacturing practices to produce a wide range of products, including graded sand (G Sand). ?We have a truly modern set up in a serene, green, laid-back location. Remember, this is God?s Own Country,? says Ouseph.

Cut-out for the quarry
Assisting St Basil?s in their quarry operations are three Volvo toilers - three EC210 and one EC290 excavators. The first EC210, bought by the company way back in 2006, has already logged in more than 19,000 hours and is still going strong. ?Worker No 1, that?s our Volvo,? says Ouseph proudly. St Basil?s rely solely on Volvo excavators to excavate up to 2,000 tonne of quality aggregate a day. The Volvos are on the job at the company?s quarries - day in, day out - cutting through layers of hard rock relentlessly. Unmatched productivity and fuel efficiency, Ouseph agrees, are hallmarks of a typical Volvo excavator. That?s what sets it apart from the crowd, he is convinced.

?Quarry mining is ever-demanding work. You want machines that can go on and on to deliver more and more for less and less. Trust Volvo to come out tops,? he says. Over the years, St Basil?s has been able to boost its mining output significantly while keeping the lid on fuel consumption. That is critical, Ouseph explains, in a business where you need to keep pace with rising demand while holding down cost of production. ?Can any mining equipment compare with Volvo in productivity and savings?? he asks. Ouseph is also happy with the support provided by Volvo CE channel partner - PACT Machines. ?They do a fine job.?

St Basil?s is presently focussed on central Kerala markets. There is an ambition to grow, to expand into new markets. The prospects look excellent. St Basil?s is ready to tap into the future. A couple of more Volvos will soon be added to the company?s fleet. Ouseph is clearly optimistic. ?We have all that it takes - great infrastructure, the finest people, best business practices... and Volvo. Do we need anything more?? St Basil?s Granites and Volvo - nothing more, nothing less.
