Tata Motors: Leading Ahead Towards a Safer Era of Mobility
Spanning over five million kilometres, Indian roads comprise one of the largest transportation networks in the world, carrying 90 per cent of countrys passenger traffic and 60 per cent of its goods. The goods movement between hubs are performed by heavy duty trucks enabling logistics and construction, forming the backbone of this industry. Making this millions of miles of material movement safe and smooth for both people and the goods is very vital; and the industry pioneers, like Tata Motors, are taking lead in making this happen.

The 2020 report of the Ministry of Roads, Transportation and Highways point to the grave threats posed by accidents. In 2020 alone, India recorded over 3,60,000 road accidents, claiming nearly 1,30,000 lives. The journey towards expanding on-road safety, guided by the Indian governments 4-Es strategy, namely Education, Engineering (of both roads and vehicles), Enforcement and Emergency care. As Indias largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors has consistently strived to engineer safer trucking through advanced mobility solutions, taking a cue from these precepts and its extensive industry experience.

Safety, tailor-made for Indian conditions

The Tata Prima and Signa range of trucks all come with crash-tested cabins and first-in-the-country, sophisticated safety systems. The new Prima range of trucks is equipped with Indias first Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), designed to provide world-class safety and comfort to drivers. The intent is not only to extend advanced safety to drivers who often have long working hours and need to cover long distances but also for the goods and for the people outside the trucks.

The heavy-duty sector of the CV industry often involve the transportation of sensitive, hazardous or high-value goods that, in case if met with an accident, can cause considerable losses while claiming lives, or in some cases, harming the environment. Each of the features embedded in Tata Motors trucks actively works to prevent such mishaps through integrated and advanced safety features. Active and Passive safety features are built-in for enhancing safe driving and reduce the number of accidents and its effects leveraging the advent of technologies.

State-of-the-art technologies for safer roads

Tata Primas ADAS comes equipped with several advanced features. The Collision Monitoring System (CMS) is a device that apprises the driver of a potential collision in two ways: firstly, by alerting the driver of the risk through visual and audio warnings of obstacles, and secondly, by implementing collision avoidance when necessary. This means the ADAS can initiate or override the drivers actions seconds before a potential collision.

The Driver Monitoring System (DMS), alerts the driver in case if it detects drivers drowsiness or distraction, thus enhancing focus and productivity while primarily preventing accidents.
