Rapidclimb Formwork at Super-luxury Residential Complex
The Camellias, a $130 million super-luxury complex in Gurgaon, is being constructed by international contractor Leighton India Contractors using specialist Rapidclimb formwork from RMD Kwikform.
Occupying over 16 acres of land, once completed, The Camellias development will include nine high-rise buildings, which will house 429 apartments and 14 penthouses. To construct the tower blocks, ranging in height from 18 to 38 storeys, Leighton turned to RMD Kwikform to supply a range of solutions for the core walls, columns and slabs.
Each apartment is designed around one main core, making it easier for the site team to stick to the original design layout and customise around the private lift lobby. The floor-to-floor height of each apartment is 3.75 m, with two passenger elevators per block for 18 and 22 storey buildings, and three passenger elevators for higher blocks of up to 22 storeys.
In order to support the rapid construction of the cores, the engineering team developed a Rapidclimb crane handled jump formwork solution, for the 18 cores, which comprised two cores for each apartment complex. This allowed the site team to concentrate on constructing the core walls before the slabs were cast, ensuring the core programme was ahead of the main works.
Rajesh Nair, Project Manager, RMD Kwikform India, commented, ?Leighton required a complete formwork and shoring solution for the Camellias towers project, so once they were comfortable with the Rapidshor system, we were able to employ other equipment from our range to support the rest of the project. This included utilising Al Form beams and Superslim Soldiers to form the columns, with Kwikstage and Airodek to support the slabs. In total, there were 7,303 columns on the project and over 16,200 sq/m of slab.?
The Rapidclimb climb system enables the site team to crane handle both the platform and formwork in one single operation, and with the self-contained working levels, the rebar is set up safely from inside. As the anchor can be reused, it ultimately drives down material costs and equipment delivery, ensuring the site team complete each pour on time.
The Camellias, which is due for completion in July 2017, is a super-luxury resort in Gurgaon. In addition to the nine high-rise apartment buildings, the $130 million project will also feature a swimming pool, steam and sauna facilities, tennis and squash courts, and other leisure and fitness facilities. The Camellias is flanked by two golf courses and is located on the exclusive Golf Drive; once the project is finished, it will be one of the largest residential schemes in all of India.
