Most of our attachments are purpose-built
DOZCO range of customised attachments meets the rigorous demands of several industry-specific applications. Pankaj Kumar, Vice President, DOZCO (India) shares more on the market and product trends.

How do you look at the concept of using attachments in a machine for secondary operations?
One certainty is the versatility that our attachments can provide. Traditionally, you can see that excavators are compacting, picking up, loading and unloading materials. There are numerous organised and small-scale industries which are totally dedicated to designing and developing innovative, robust, versatile, state-of-the-art and cost-effective attachments for various types of construction and mining equipment, to augment their capabilities. Attachments convert conventional construction equipment into multipurpose machines, making them more productive, thereby ensuring better utilisation and job site economy. The scope of attachments extends to practically all categories of plant and machinery.

What are the key advantages of using attachments with equipment?
Attachments convert the basic machine into a multiple machine that can do multiple jobs without changing anything. Just an attachment change can convert the machine into a different machine. So there are multiple advantages in terms of investment and maintenance of machines. There is no need to own, operate and maintain multiple machines and the manpower to operate and maintain them.

Which are the attachments you offer for construction/mining equipment? What are the features?
We have excavator-mounted rock breaker, bucket crusher, pulveriser attachments. Most of our attachments are purpose-built to suit Indian conditions and usage habits. The design and special material selection makes it special and different from other generic offerings. But some products are unique from the utility point like the excavator-mounted crushers.

Our product range includes the entire range of hydraulic attachment including hydraulic breakers, bucket crushers, pulveriser.

In the hydraulic breaker range, we promote product offerings based on the customer's product requirement. For each category, we have three to four units available to be mounted on a particular excavator for a specific application.

Features: DOZCO rock breakers being manufactured in Visakhapatnam are larger in size and are used for breaking tough materials such as rock or concrete. They can be easily attached to the hydraulic excavators. Since they easily and neatly cut through concrete, breakers are commonly used for demolition purposes.

DOZCO rock breakers are built with:

Reinforced body for greater reliability

Accumulator design for higher efficiency

Larger piston diameter for increased impact energy

Improved power/weight ratio to maximise productivity

Lower operating cost

Maintenance friendly.

What are the customised solutions you offer with your range of attachments?
Attachments with different shapes and characters, and technical equipment are specially customised for the respective operation and optimally configured for the respective machine size. DOZCO range of customised attachments meets the rigorous demands of several industry-specific applications. These rugged, world-class and resilient attachments, which include rock breakers, find applications across urban development, inland waterways, irrigation, demolition/crushing, material handling, metal recycling, mining, tunnelling and many more.

What are the factors which will drive the demand growth of attachments in India?
The construction equipment industry is primarily driven by three key sectors of construction, mining and manufacturing. With the increased construction and de-construction requirements, usage of multiple attachments is widely increased that leads to term equipment as carrier. At construction/demolition sites, to avail and use carrier to the fullest and maintain the versatility of the carrier with space constraints, demand of attachment has increased. Also, attachment increases productivity with reduced number of equipment and increases overall efficiency which reduces overall project cost.

What are the challenges faced by attachment industry?
In attachment industries, there are a lot of players nowadays, some from the neighbouring countries come to this market and offers a special price with extended warranty and then close their door within a year or so. They spoil the users thinking which increases customer's demand. However, whoever provides the best quality and prompt aftersales services will survive for long and win the maximum market sale.

What are the opportunities and market outlook?
Growing impulse to develop infrastructure in the developing countries is leading to exceptional growth in the construction equipment industry around the world which includes the excavator attachments market within it. Further, with infrastructure investment in road construction, housing projects and mining sector set to go up, there will be sound rise in the demand for excavators and related attachments. Excavator attachments market is segmented based on product and by end-users. The end-user segment is further bifurcated into agriculture, construction and utilities, landscaping, mining and waste and recycling. Since excavator attachments are used in both the large and small-scale infrastructure development projects.

Attachment market will help industry consultants, equipment manufacturers, existing players searching for expansion opportunities, new players searching possibilities and other stakeholders to align their market-centric strategies according to the ongoing and expected trends in the future.
