CIL signs agreement to purchase Russian shovels at Rs 1,462 cr
Coal India Ltd (CIL) told the media that it had inked a pact for purchasing 11 Russian electric rope shovels of about Rs 1,462 crore.
The electric rope shovels play an important role in opencast mines in material loading.
CIL inked a pact with Iz-Kartex, named after P G Korbokov Ltd, a Russian shovel manufacturing firm for installing and commissioning shovels after successfully getting the tender through participating in the global competitive tender involving reverse auction.
The contract has been closed considering the life cycle equipment cost with consumables and spares for eight years.
CIL said that it is the first major equipment procurement in the current fiscal year. The procurement process is being tracked fast to strengthen the mining equipment and replace the old machines.
The delivery of the entire electric rope shovels will be concluded by September 2023.
The newly contracted 11 electric rope shovels would be used in the opencast (OC) projects of CIL arm Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL).
According to a statement, each of the electric rope shovels of 20 Cu.M has priced around Rs 133 crore, including the landed value of the equipment, consumables and spares for eight years.
As per the contract, the first machine will roll out in NCL in June 2022, and afterwards, at least one every 45 days. The entire delivery is being scheduled for September 2023.
